Liquid paint typically takes the form of water or some other chemical compounds as solvent, thus, there are "waterborne" and "solvent-based" paint. Which paint is appropriate for a job depending on the circumstances. Generally, it's difficult to say that one is better than the other, they present different effects in different situations.

What is waterborne paint? Why choose waterborne painting application?

Waterborne paint is one of the most common painting materials on the market. It takes water as diluent, without organic solvent, benzene, formaldehyde, xylene and other harmful substances and heavy metal.

  • Using waterborne paint reduces the emission of VOCs, improves air quality and supposedly reduces the health risk to all operators.

  • Water-based coatings also help minimize the concentration of flammable materials that accumulates in a small area.

  • In painting process, waterborne paint has an advantage when it comes to spraying a thinner application, it requires less vanish to utilization and always stays smooth even painting with many layers.

  • Film of waterborne paint looks bright and crystal, with great flexibility, features wear resisting, aging resisting and yellow stain resisting.

Our COLO-3009A Electrostatic Paint Spray Gun is a perfect tool for waterborne paint, which effectively overcomes the static leakage problem that ensures painting performance. The reliable insulation materials and professional isolation design gurrantee the spray gun safe operation. COLo-3009A electrostatic painting equipment supports both waterborne and solvent-based paint.

What is solven-based paint? Why choose solvent based painting application?

Solvent-based paint is a kind of traditional paint material, made up of organic solvent and other liquefying agents, it will consistently volatile harmful compound if not dry enough.

But there is one obvious advantage that solvent paint over waterborne paint coatings: during drying process solvent-based paint is more resistant to weather conditions such as changes of temperature and humidity. Moisture in waterborne paint is not easy to evaporate in high humidity environment, while solvent-based coatings requires less drying time.

What's more, if water contacts with the substrate before the painting is applied, spot rusting may begin to occur. Therefore, jobs in open, humid conditions, such as those often found in infrastructure re-coating projects, solvent-based paint is a better choice

We supply COLO-3009 Solvent-based Electrostatic Paint Gun integrated of electrostatic and pneumatic technology delivers best transfer efficiency and wrap performance, significantly reduces working time and increases paint utilization.
